Brennen's story

World War Two was a very scary time for a lot of people and our country. Our soldiers fought a long and hard war. The U.S. soldiers saved thousands of people and made our country very, very proud.
My great granddaddy was a part of the war. He was an engineer and a sharp shooter under General Patton. My granddaddy said over in Germany that they fought hard to protect people who were being treated very badly. He also talked about the different types of things they used in the war, such as big bombs that looked like bottles that they would use to drop on the submarines of the Germans. Our troops also had radars that would track the Germans’ locations.
Even though the war was a scary place, I’m proud to know that my great grandfather was a brave soldier and helped save so many people and protect our freedom.

  1. Wonderful use of the information you learned from your personal interview! It is obvious that you took that part of the assignment very seriously, and you gained a lot of insight into this historical event. I am glad you picked World War II, since there were not very many stories from this class about that event. Nice job! Mrs. Sullivan
